The Online Meeting was presented by Dr. Rachel Simões, PhD in Tropical Medicine, Molecular Virology and Immunobiologicals, PhD in Animal Science, Master’s Degree in Animal Production, Specialist in Biotechnology and Applied Ethics & Bioethics, and Veterinarian.
The session covered the main applications of molecular biology in the veterinary diagnosis of infectious diseases, including techniques such as PCR, RT-PCR, real-time PCR, next-generation sequencing, and antimicrobial resistance detection. It also explored how these methodologies contribute to the monitoring of infectious agents and support epidemiological and genomic surveillance.
With a practical and applied approach, the training enabled participants to understand the potential of molecular techniques to improve diagnostic accuracy, strengthen the reliability of laboratory results, and support decision-making in the veterinary laboratory routine.
